Dear Members of The Penrod Company,
I believe it is important for our company to clearly and definitively state our position on social justice in these challenging and painful times our country and the world are experiencing in response to the death of George Floyd. The continual string of racially-tied events has laid bare not only the overt physical danger to the people of color but also the systemic racism that many continue to face today.
I fully recognize the importance of placing our stake in the ground on values and principles this company stands for. I take this issue to heart and want to assure you that The Penrod Company will continually examine the way we treat our customers, vendors, and our employees to ensure we are building a culture of equality, inclusion, and respect.
At Penrod, our goal is to always do the right thing, the right way, every time. That continues to be our goal as we strive to practice our values day in and day out. We are proud of our words and deeds regarding diversity, inclusion, and equity. Two of our company values we will always hold strongly are our integrity in the way people are treated and our solid commitment to be responsible. These two values work in tandem to ensure our customers receive the best product and service. We couldn’t do our business without these values.
We will continue “leaning in” to difficult conversations, open the doors for honest dialog, and work together to have all voices heard to create solutions to any racial problems that may arise. We welcome your input and urge you to take part in the effort for social change. We recognize that there is much work to be done in addressing social inequalities and implicit bias and that this work is important to make a more just world.
